In this role you will be taking responsibility for our clients' ITSM / Service Management tool called, Assyst. It is not required for you to have experience of looking after this application. Although it will be expected for you to have had some previous application support experience.

Your duties will be broad from the basic adding/removing users to more complex tasks and activities listed below.

Core duties:

  • Develop, integrate, configure and support the defined applications and database infrastructure within agreed standards.
  • To provide 3rd line application support and guidance for the defined application tool set.
  • Identify solutions, changes and improvements - be proactive
  • Produce specifications and designs for the defined applications and their components to meet defined business needs, retaining compatibility with the SSC reference architectures.
  • Transfer application knowledge and associated documentation to the 1st line and 2nd line Service Desk teams to facilitate robust service support for new and upgraded application solutions.
  • Facilitate productive relationships with and between key stakeholders, during the planning and implementation of application change.
  • Coordinate the work of suppliers, contractors and colleagues during the development, testing and implementation of new or upgraded application modules or solutions.
  • Support and maintain the database infrastructure which underpins the application.
  • Provide estimates for scope of works and associated resourcing requirements for project planning purposes.
  • Identify project related risks and escalate project issues in a timely manner
  • Maintain appropriate levels of configuration, technical and procedural documentation for the defined application tool sets.
  • Work with the application vendors to investigate complex issues, identify and implement solutions for re-occurring problems.
  • Update and maintain the CMDB with configuration details, relationships and highlight out of date data and errors.
  • To provide subject matter expertise in capability of the ITSM toolset and on-going product related development within the existing product or the wider ITSM tools market.
  • Fluent understanding of underpinning business and ITIL processes to ensure solutions match the requirements of the business and are compliant.
  • A good grasp and understanding of the software development lifecycle with particular focus on the testing and implementation of updates to the ITSM tool.
  • The role holder needs to be able to create and maintain technical and user orientated documentation including user guides and project plans.
  • The role holder will need to have the capability to exploit the ITSM technology to drive automated processes and trigger events via scripts etc.

Knowledge & Experience:

  • Experience of using proven Service Management tools is essential and experience of using Assyst would be highly desirable as would knowledge of CMDB structures and the creation and maintenance of Services and Systems, showing inter-relationships between Configuration Items.
  • Proven business analysis skills
  • Experience of delivery of projects
  • SQL skills highly beneficial
  • Knowledge of scripting and basic HTML
  • You will be methodical with a structured approach to work and have close attention to detail with the desire to learn new skills and develop those you already have.
