DevOps / Site Reliability Engineer - Azure & C#.Net - Software House, remote working options!

Our client is a niche software house of circa 50 employees based near Bank / Moorgate / Liverpool Street tube station. There is also a USA office. They provide market-leading software to some of the most prestigious companies in the global financial services sector. Our client 'likes' working in a DevOps environment and the developers 'get' the importance of having a DevOps team to work with them.

This is a hugely Microsoft focused environment with the very latest of Microsoft technologies being used for CI/CD, automation in 'Azure DevOps' within and Azure PaaP, IaaS and Windows Server on-prem environments.

Must haves:

  • DevOps / Development background on a Microsoft Windows stack C# .NET
  • Strong experience automating deployment, patching and monitoring of services across a stack including:
    • Infrastructure (Networking, Storage, Virtualisation, Firewalls)
    • Operating System (Windows Server)
    • Application (SQL Server, IIS/web servers, custom applications)
  • PowerShell - very strong skills
  • Experience automating deployment and monitoring services on public clouds such as Azure, AWS, Google Compute (Are client are heavy Azure users in multiple regions)
  • Security focussed mind set and previous experience of working to ISO 27001 or similar standards
  • Structured and process driven approach to service delivery, e.g. familiarity with ITIL a plus
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Nice to haves:

  • Experience creating and maintaining CI/CD pipelines on Azure DevOps / Visual Studio Team Services
  • Experience developing and deploying Azure ARM templates
  • Experience automating and monitoring Azure IaaS and PaaS services, including:
    • Virtual Machine Scale Sets
    • Service Fabric
    • SQL Azure
    • App service plans
    • Log Analytics / OMS
    • Key Vault
    • Storage Accounts
  • Experience with incident management platforms such as Ops Genie

You will be responsible for SaaS operations, including provisioning, configuration, monitoring and maintenance of the application and related infrastructure and systems. You'll have the opportunity to work with 3rd party technology providers, consultants and a variety of internal teams across the globe. Of particular importance will be collaboration with the development team to maintain a DevOps approach to service provision, using an agile approach with a CI/CD pipeline and automation. You'll also collaborate with the support team to handle operational incidents.

Key Responsibilities

  • Run all aspects of infrastructure and operations for 24/7 availability of a SaaS offering across a global customer base
  • Maintain the integrity and confidentiality of customer data, including security and DR strategies for production environments and associated systems
  • Support the development team to implement CI/CD pipelines for application deployment and provisioning
  • Plan and implement Release management, approvals and roll-back
  • Project manage and deliver operational enhancement projects
  • Responsible for incident management and communication of service status to customers. Troubleshoot and identify root cause for outages and incidents.
  • Maintain responsibility for inventory and cost control of operational infrastructure & resources
  • Maintain knowledge on technology standards, trends and best practice
