I am looking for an experienced MySQL DBA who is looking to take the next leap in the career by joining a leading marketing automation vendor who are disrupting the marketplace with their own SaaS marketing platform. With over 150 staff operating across 4 sites my client is now looking to continue their unprecedented growth by hiring several roles across the UK.

As the MySQL DBA, you will be required to manage all aspects of the end-to-end delivery of support for all the SQL Servers & Databases, adhering to the relevant standards and assisting projects where necessary. You will lead design and query optimisation to achieve highly scalable system.

In addition, this MySQL DBA will have experience of administering, supporting and building Linux based MySQL

The client is currently going through a big technical refactor, cleaning up their platform and get it right for the future. The client has a MySQL database with 2.5TB each with at least 2/3 databases being deployed, in some instances data tables have more than a billion rows in some cases

What skills you need to have

  • Extensive experience (3+ years) of managing, optimizing and monitoring large MySQL databases
  • Experience implementing robust backup strategies
  • Experience with NoSQL databases, search technologies, such as ElasticSearch, MongoDB, Redis, etc
  • Experience of providing database design and architecture advice to developers
  • Excellent Linux server administration skills
  • Excellent English language skills

Nice to have

  • Message/job queues (RabbitMQ, Kafka)
  • ClickHouse
  • System automation tools, such as Ansible
  • Docker/Containerization

What you'll be doing

  • Provision MySQL instances and set up/manage replication
  • Ensure performance, security and availability of databases
  • Handle common database procedures such as upgrade, backup, recovery, migration, etc
  • Profile server resource usage, optimize and tweak as necessary
  • Provide DB architectural advice to developers
  • Help to plan and horizontally scale our data (MySQL, NoSQL)
  • Support NoSQL DB installations (planning, optimization, backup, restore, etc)
