Senior Cloud Engineer - AWS & .NET - SaaS Software House

Using Natural Language Processing, AI and huge scale cloud infrastructure, our client is automating the process of internet research on individuals

Our client's SaaS solution, locates trillions of fragments of online information enabling their users to understand the reputational conduct of any organisation or individual they are engaging with.

This depth and quality of information has historically only been possible using expensive and time-consuming human investigation. Our client's software provides a platform with fast, cost-effective and deep insight, as a service, in minutes, saving them weeks and helping them to secure against diverse risks to their business.

Our clients customers are major financial institutions, industry regulators, charities and commercial organisations.

Currently at 15 employees you will be the first dedicated Cloud / DevOps Engineer taking ownership of the AWS ecosystem, yet still working on C# development for product modifications. Our client are rapidly growing so now is a great time to join!

Our client's software us is only possible thanks to the very latest cloud computing technologies: we want someone to take the lead in understanding these technologies and turning them into amazingly scalable compute solutions. You will be responsible for guiding our infrastructure to accommodate the growth in customers and usage, and if you rise to the challenge we will build a specialist team underneath you.

You need to have:

  • 2+ years' commercial C# experience
  • 2+ years' commercial CloudFormation experience (Terraform experience could be considered)
  • Experience building things with a variety of AWS services - EC2 and Lambda most important
  • A keen interest in cloud infrastructure
  • Strong creative technical problem solving
  • Strong written and verbal communication

In this role you will:

  • Implement backend features using C# and other languages (such as Scala, Java, Python and NodeJS in our stack)
  • AWS - Come up with and implement creative cloud infrastructure solutions, gaining experience at the cutting edge of AWS
  • Guide and help other developers in infrastructure matters
  • Have ownership over key components of the eco-system, including: rapid autoscaling - system logging, monitoring and alerting - CI/CD - networking - security - cost monitoring and reporting - user access management
  • Make optimisation proposals in support of other development work
  • Build valuable experience deploying machine learning models

Experience of lower-level programming is a bonus.

Ordinarily, the role would be a full-time, permanent position based in King's Cross, however as with most companies, we are all currently working remotely. We will be looking to move back to the office as soon as possible in 2021. Being a small company, candidates need to be able to work autonomously, be comfortable without micro-management, be flexible and have initiative to solve problems.
